July 2008
Brethren -
For Sharon Lodge, July will be a very active
month! Our Stated Meeting will be on July 10th. The program will
be a presentation from RW John Schroeder on the "Masonic Influences on the Declaration of Independence." "Be
Patriotic!" Come out and listen to the RW and enjoy fellowship
with the other brothers of the lodge. Events this month will include
a Blood Drive on July 12th, at Arlington Centennial-Glebe Lodge. If
you are capable of giving blood please come out donate, so that others
might live. To date we have only donated 56 cans to the SHARE Program.
I know brethren, that we can do better and I challenge all the brothers
to contribute at least one can a piece. We currently have 150 members
or so in the lodge, therefore, if each member contributes a single
pantry can (that is lying around collecting dust in the cupboard),
we will double our current total.
Brothers, it is time again to remember our friends and family that
have moved on into the Grand Celestial Lodge above. We do this in our
different ways, but I look towards the living to remember our past.
Take this to heart, that our fallen brothers have only moved on to
help prepare for our arrival on that day when we too will return to
the place from which we came. Brother Henry Connor joined this Great
Lodge on June 13th, 2008.
Also, as I have mentioned, the Grand Master has
deemed August 16th as the date for a "one day conferral".
The District is in need of volunteers who can assist in this event.
If you are interested please contact me directly.
Finally, The Dog Days of Summer are definitely upon us. The Dog Days
refers to the period from early July to early September when Sirius,
the Dog Star, is in conjunction with the Sun. It was long ago believed
that the heat from Sirius, being the brightest star after the sun,
added to the heat from the sun, causing hot and sultry weather. Whether
or not Sirius contributes to our summertime temperatures, it's still
wise to protect yourself from too much sun and too little water. Don't
overexert yourself in the garden, on the golf course, or for that matter
any other place. If you feel dizzy and have a headache, get into the
shade and seek medical assistance.
Our August stated meeting we will have a special guest, Most Worshipful
Edmund Cohen will come for a special visit. If you can come, let me
know so we can have a good head count for that night.
Sincerely/Fraternally,
Jesse Chou
Worshipful Master
